Follow these steps to resolve cash drawer malfunction.
IMPORTANT
- A cash drawer is linked to the POS terminal through the connected receipt printer.
- If the connected receipt printer is also not functioning, refer to Troubleshoot a Receipt Printer to resolve the printer issue first, as this is likely to solve your cash drawer issue.
- Ensure that the cash drawer cable is securely connected to this port on the receipt printer.
- Determine if the cash drawer is physically locked.
- Locate the cash drawer key provided with each individual drawer.
- If needed, purchase a replacement key on our website: parts.getunion.com.
- If the key is not found on our website, or is not available, please contact Support.
- Insert the key into the drawer and turn counterclockwise to open.
⇒ Result: If the key turns but the drawer does not open, your cash drawer is likely broken. Order a new cash drawer from our website: parts.getunion.com. - If the cash drawer opens as expected, continue to Step 3.
- Locate the cash drawer key provided with each individual drawer.
- Perform a test print from the printer the cash drawer is connected through.
⇒ Result: If the printer functions correctly, and the cash drawer opens with the key, the APG cord between the printer and cash drawer is faulty. Order a new cash drawer from our website: parts.getunion.com.
