Troubleshoot Terminal Power Issues
Follow these steps to determine the cause of a terminal's power issues.
- Test the terminal's power cables.
- Ensure the terminal's charging cable is securely plugged into the terminal.
- Ensure the terminal's charging cable is securely plugged into an outlet or surge protector.
- Verify that the outlet and/or the surge protector have power.
⇒ Note: If the outlet does not have power, check the circuit breaker or continue troubleshooting by plugging the printer into a powered outlet.
- Plug the terminal into a known working outlet.
- Replace the terminal's charging cable with a known working cable.
> Note: If new charging cables are needed, refer to Order Replacement Hardware or order parts directly at parts.getunion.com.
- Test the terminal's internal circuit.
- Unplug the card reader from the terminal and, if applicable, remove the card reader from its case.
- Charge both terminal and card reader with their individual charging cables, for approximately 20 minutes.
⇒ Note: If the terminal is not charging on its own, it may need to have the charging port examined at an Apple store.
- Reconnect both charged devices to each other.
⇒ Note: If your card reader is an iDynamo6 model (image), power cycle after reconnecting the card reader by turning your terminal off and then on again.
- Stop troubleshooting and contact Support if the terminal is still not charging.
